# 2. Create an agent

First step in getting started with Hashman, is to create an agent. Agents in Hashman are responsible for scanning the local network constantly for miners and performing the actions based on specified settings inside mining profiles.\

Navigate to the agents view and click on create an agent. Follow the instructions for creating an agent from the [Agents](/hashman-docs/features/agents.md) guide. \
\
After creating the agent, follow the instructions within the app to install the agent to the mining environment.
