# 3. Install the agent

Hashman Agent recommends Linux with systemd, but Windows is supported with a less straightforward setup.

For best results, the Linux kernel version should be more than a few years old. Specifically, the minimum recommended kernel version is 5.6 for io\_uring support. We also require systemd at this time.

To install the agent on Linux, run the command shown in the agent creation screen. User-mode installs are also possible without sudo, but setting up a system-mode service this way is recommended.

Note: Once miners are detected, it can take up to a few hours for Hashman to learn their characteristics and to compute a mining schedule for them. Until then, Hashman will not make any changes to the miner's power settings.

### Supported miners and operating systems

* Antminer: Bitmain stock firmware
* Whatsminer
* BraiinsOS
* LuxOS
* Vnish

### Notable omissions that are planned in the future:

* Canaan miners

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://hashman.gitbook.io/hashman-docs/getting-started/3.-install-the-agent.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
